Lets come together, We fellow Indians and flood the social media with our Patriotism for next 24 hours!!

At the Stroke of this Midnight hour when the world sleeps, India awakens to variety of Independence Day wishes and messages…

74 years of Independence and we have evolved every single day post-47 as Indians. We have developed in most spheres of life but regressed in a few. Well, that is my very personal opinion and yours can differ (owing to the very famous freedom of expression).

As I left College and started becoming slightly more aware about the surroundings, there was a phenomenon which caught my eye. The phenomenon of ongoing slavery of Indians. Slavery to Indian media…. Slavery to Celebrities… Slavery to political views. Since, the school times we have been taught right and wrong as two opposites and when did we learn right and left, I don’t know. Our priorities as an Indian have had a makeshift changeover, without us realising it.

So no matter, we pretend to celebrate our Independence Day with all the enthusiasm however, the blunt truth remains that we have forgotten that how this Independence was achieved. We don’t tend to acknowledge that there are people who are slogging day and night so that all citizens can celebrate this day every year. We may claim to be ever-independent but we are not.

Yes, every Indian is doing is his bit and is responsible for the prosperity but let’s just appreciate for a moment that there are individuals who have sacrificed and are sacrificing their very lives for ours. You may argue that we are doing so but the corollary from above dates speaks different. If you still think I am wrong… have you seen any politician or any celebrity visiting the families of our martyrs, take Pulwama, Uri, Handwara, Galwan… But you will find them going everywhere else where the news headlines lie, where publicity lies.

And it is not their mistake. It is the mistake of an Indian whose prime concern as a citizen seems to be dwindling every time. A soldier dying on border is not news, it’s a daily affair… I will copy paste a social media post to show my condolences but I must demand justice on every nook and corner, if a celebrity dies.

Now, I don’t say that you don’t do what you do but it’s our dissembling standards at times that define us as Indians. We must celebrate this day with all vigour but our hearts and minds should not become slaves for another year the moment this day ends.

Remember, ‘To abide by the Constitution and respect its ideals and institutions, the National Flag and the National Anthem’- this is the first Duty of a citizen mentioned in the our Constitution yet, months back, our very own beloved Indians raised doubt and argument over standing during National Anthem for 52 seconds, citing various rights and freedoms.

A very Happy Independence Day!!
