COVID19 AND MENTAL HEALTH

COVID19: a disease so elusive and evolutionary that it has stripped mankind of its very delusional superiority. As the virus finds its way into every nasopharynx available with each second, brightest of human minds are exhausting their grey matter to look for a cure. A cure that heals the human body or maybe a vaccine that renders some immunity to the human body. That shall happen… hopefully, one day. But what will not, is a cure for the human mind.

What is common to all individuals across the globe today, is the longing to go back home… to meet their family…. to meet their friends…. to get a chance to breath some fresh new air. A longing of social contact. Social Animals for a reason!

The people are locked since months, not just in their houses but also inside their brains. Never did a human mind fathom something of this sort. And that is the genesis of all the stress in human life. Being faced with the unfathomable, something never expected.

But when do we learn? We still plan things- “I will certainly get married.””I will definitely pass the exam.” “I will get a car next month for sure.” When deep inside we know, life is all about uncertainties, indefinite and unsure things. Because possibly we were designed to be so… to try and exercise control over everything. So should we not plan things and leave them all be? Well certainly and definitely not!! However, evolving with ever changing circumstances is the need of the hour. The year is going to be full of mental clutter. Everything will come to halt, priorities will change and world shall reorganise itself.

And though the epidemiologists state the mortality of COVID19 at around 4-6%, the exact figures of the morbidity and mortality figures will be higher. People might not suffocate due to the disease but will suffocate to their emotional and mental bestrew. Something which is avoidable. How? By training the human mind to let go of things beyond its control; by learning to talk it out; by learning to accept that we indeed are vulnerable.

Ultimately, your reality is the reflection of your thoughts, if you think you are enough… You Are!!
