It was a sunny day. The young doctor blew hard to get that ant off which was steadily crawling up his sleeve but the ant seemed invincible, like some Super-Ant. Just while it puzzled the young mind, the Ant stopped midway and gave an equally puzzled look to the doctor. Waving its tiny antennas, the ant tried to figure out this uniform blue thing, on which it crept. The ant stayed oblivious however, the young doctor soon realised that his subdued blow behind those two layers of mask wouldn’t even move a grain of sand.
The irritation over the nasal bridge had set in due to consistent usage of the tight fitting N-95 mask. Often the mask would give an appearance of demarcating the democratic republic of Eyes and Communist region of mouth concealing its free speech. The muffled voice beneath the mask would hardly reach the listener in most of the circumstances.
Two hours into the PPE and the young doctor could perceive his lips getting dry and chapped. Inside the COVID19 sampling booth, you would not dare to have a gulp of water with the PPE on for the sheer fear of fomites’ transmission.
Well for the blessed ignorant minds, PPE is that blue/white thing you see healthcare workers wearing all the time on Television these days, covering their every nook and corner of body. Donning PPE seems cool… well it seemed to me but its actually hot, very hot!!!
Things were hazy now. The young doctor had requested for the transparent face shield but its procurement was in progress. With his fogged-up transparent goggles, he geared up for the next sample. Another drop of alcohol based sanitiser over the palm of double layered gloved hands… The gloves had been stinking of strong alcohol odour now. Alas! this inhaled amount would not intoxicate you or all the Health care Workers would have a gala time battling COVID.
Nevertheless, came up the next individual upon the booth…. Or was it just his nose… Was it his or her nose… Well who knows.
All the Young doctor saw across his misty goggles were two little openings, with not-so-mushy hair inside. The young doctor wielded his nasal swab like an armoured knight with his sword and carefully manipulated it along one of those little openings. And the blessed ignorants- thats just an analogy for nostrils… nothing else.
As the young doctor finished taking the sample and was pulling the swab out of the nostril, he could spot a tiny orange thing treading across his goggles. The Super-Ant had discovered that not everything was blue on the layout, something was transparent too!
